Air Customs Officers of Goa Customs on Monday seized around 590 gms of gold paste worth Rs 18.08 lakh from a female passenger, concealed in the waist section of her jeans pant at Dabolim airport.
According to Customs Commissioner R Manohar, the Air Customs Officers of Goa Customs headed by Dy Commissioner of Customs Dr Raghavendra P, based on intelligence inputs, intercepted a female international passenger who had landed at Dabolim International airport by an Air India flight on Monday.
“The passenger had arrived from Dubai and her personal search resulted in recovery of 590 grams of gold paste valued at Rs 18.08 lakh. The gold paste was in one transparent polythene packet which was concealed in a pocket especially created for the purpose in her blue jeans pant around the waist band. The gold paste was seized under the Customs Act 1962,” said Manohar.
The exercise was conducted under the guidance of R Manohar, Customs Commissioner. Further investigation is in
progress.
Since April 2018, the Air Customs of Goa Commissionerate has seized gold worth Rs 236.5 lakh and foreign currencies equivalent to Rs 67.5 lakh from international passengers at Dabolim International Airport.
